About Kaizen Initiatives

Kaizen Initiatives is a company designed to work with the most important part of any business... the people. What makes us different is that our experience allows us to work with all levels within the organization. Using a structured coaching approach, we support everything from Executive Coaching and Leadership training to developing your culture into a Self-Directed Workforce.

We start by understanding the current state, identify the desired state, and then work with the individual and/or team to begin the change. Whether it is one-on-one coaching or team Kaizen, changes are made using personal development and continuous improvement strategies, and are supported through scheduled coaching and mentoring sessions to ensure sustained change.

Established in 2016

Kaizen Initiatives Inc. was created to offer effective solutions to organizations that are in need of an "internal" approach to sustained change.

We are located out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and provide service and support to organizations across North America!

And with clients in Recycling, Healthcare, Aerospace, Non-profits, Agriculture, Automotive, Dealerships,
Manufacturing and Distribution, we are helping people "learn to see" that Lean is applicable to ANY business.

Our Goal

At Kaizen Initiatives, we are Coaches, not Consultants. This means that we start with your current abilities, and help you move towards your goal from there.

Our goal is to assist you and your people in learning and applying the right habits required for continuous improvement with-in your existing organization.

We provide you and your leaders with the tools for teaching, support and follow-up to ensure that all results truly come from with-in, which results in long term success.

Our Team

Lenny Houweling
President, Kaizen Head Coach

Lenny was born and raised on a farm in Southern Alberta where he learned the importance of family, hard work, and true commitment.

In January, 2000, Lenny moved off of the family farm to finish his Automotive Repair Technician Red Seal. He remained in Calgary and went on to work for Concours Collision Centers in Calgary, Alberta for 16 years. Lenny's experience as a long term employee and manager and in a strict lean environment taught him the true fundamentals of Lean, which is built on Culture and Values. From technician through to General Manager, Lenny gained strong Lean understanding, learning and practicing Lean from the Gemba, not just the classroom.

"When I started my career with Concours Collision, I had no idea what Lean was. I was always an organized person, but when I came to understand Lean, it became a way of life for me! I was able to learn, practice and teach Lean Thinking. As both a technician and a leader, I know how to coach with-in all levels of an organization."

Krista Houweling
Kaizen Administrator, Founder of "Enlighten"

Krista is married to Lenny, and they have four beautiful children. She has a passion for helping others and finds joy in each new day! Krista is the founder of "Enlighten", an empowerment program created for girls ages ranging from 7-18.

"Enlighten helps our young ladies discover the power of self-confidence, embrace their unique selves and find courage in God’s word as they navigate a world full of negative self-talk and social pressures. Physical activities, meditation and self-reflection help the girls identify their unique strengths and weaknesses.

"Choose Joy! Spread Joy!" is my motto and Enlighten is the program I use to share this truth with young women in my community.” Krista Houweling

Krista is active in our church and school community. She loves singing and enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
